HOW DOES THE INTERNET INCREASE IN THE AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION INFLUENCE LIFE IN TODAY'S WORLD?

The Internet has become the most utilized media in order to get information, it eliminates the involvement of other media such as newspapers, television, and any less used media. From this fact, this has become a piece of undisputed evidence on how powerful and how influential the internet for people around the world.

The usefulness of the internet regarding what the internet has to offer, such as how easy people trying to access information, literally almost everything they want to find can be found on the internet. For example, people who are interested to learn psychology can find anything related to that specific subject without taking a course or pursuing a degree in psychology. 

However, on the other hand, this also means that people can find various false information through the internet. We can spot from the recent hoaxes that still linger in our memory, such as hoax regarding vaccination, it says there is a microchip inserted in the vaccine that the chip shall be inside the human body after receiving a vaccination. 

This is just one of the hoaxes and many people believe in this and try to defend their false presupposition because of this hoax. Human tends to believe in something which is similar to their own preassumption when they found something otherwise, they try vehemently to deny, although it is actually the truth. This can be one of the reasons why people are easily fooled by hoaxes. 

False information, false evidence leads to a false sense of security. Consuming false information that they deem as the right one shall make them do anything in accordance with what they believe. We can see how many people without shame spreading from information, they think they are right, they are not going to spread lies. However, unbeknownst to them that the news they elucidate is wrong. They feel comfortable doing such a thing, without fear because of the false sense of security they obtain from being deceived by false news. 

The internet utterly influences people's paradigm specifically how people view the world. If we are prone to be fooled by imbeciles who spread false news, we will view the world with the wrong idea or with a false impression. For example, if we believe that Corona Virus is just a conspiration, we might have a tendency to believe that this whole world is full of lies, we will not believe in the government, and we will view the government is trying to take advantage of the pandemic situations. 

How many people hate the government simply because they trust misleading or even false information? During the new order in Indonesia, we only needed to say "he is communist or PKIi" as an allegation against people we don't like, they could be arrested, and in the worst case, killed. So the internet can lead to a mass of false information and the internet has been proven able to mislead and fool people into believing lies.

Based on this fact, this does not prove the internet is bad. We have to take a look at more than one point of view. Indeed, the internet is a media that can be used by irresponsible assailants to spread false news. However, we can't literally prevent that, internet providers can barely block a few sites, while there are still a lot of sites containing false information, malicious material or negative things linger. 

False information involves every aspect, including economic. We do know a "business" known as money games, there are a lot, but the most famous of all is Vtube. People who play this desperately try to defend this already known as fraud business. Not to mention, some even spread hoaxes and we all know this kind of business still illegal until today. 

Well, in order to counter false information spread on the internet, the only effective way to do is to use the internet. We have to spread correct information as much as possible, we can clarify hoax that we can find on the internet. Not only that, we might be able to allocate our time to educate people on how to be critical and clear thinking, how not to accept everything they see, how to check and recheck any incoming information they get. 

The conclusion about the internet in regards to the influence and the availability of accessing information for people is the internet has become the first source of power to get either false or true information. It has negated the effect of other media, the internet now takes priority in the eyes of most people when it comes to finding any information they think necessary.

Furthermore, we can summarize the significance of the internet when it comes to influencing people’s life. Indeed, the internet has made our life easier, such as having information faster, easy, communicating with people despite how far they are, conducting classes online without attending the physical class. While on the other hand, we can easily receive hoaxes, therefore we need to keep our eyes peeled in order to identify false or true information. The pros and cons of the internet are unavoidable, it depends on the one who uses and receives information from the internet.
